Summary: Competent

Review: Very competent and honest but purchased parts or parts markup seem quite expensive. For instance, today I was billed $60+/- for a coolant reservoir which I could purchase online for under $30. Likewise I was billed approx $30 for a thermostat available online for around $10, a coolant temperature sensor billed at $66 available online for less than $20 and an evaporative emission control canister billed at $150 available online for for around $50. Yeah, these may not all be OEM. And yeah, Wayne deserves a reasonable markup on parts he retails. And of course, non-OEM parts may or may not be immediately available, however I'd appreciate a discussion about OEM vs after-market components between the vehicle owner and the shop. Particularly in a case like mine where the vehicle is pushing 20 years old, has a KBB price of around $3500 and maybe I wouldn't want to pay the premium money for an OEM component that MAY last another 20 years for a car I plan on selling in a few months. Note I am not bitching about his $95/hour labor costs as I believe his staff is very competent and in my experience, competency actually saves money. Now that I think about it, are all the replacement/repair parts I drove off with today OEM?? I've owned 30 or so cars, a boat and a couple of airplanes. I'll likely return to Wayne's and have recommended Wayne's to my son (he has a Volvo). However next time we'll likely have a chat about his parts cost and markup.
